Thank You Rev. Borthwick for your volunteer service

The Guelph Police Service wishes to publicly thank Rev. John Borthwick, who will step down at the end of this month after seven years as the Service’s volunteer Chaplain.

Rev. Borthwick joined the Guelph Police Service in the fall of 2014 and has served an invaluable role for our members; spending many hours listening and offering support. As a long time member of the Guelph community he could often make connections and act as a liaison in support of our members.

A champion of wellness within the first responder community, Rev. Borthwick contributed to many organizational wellness initiatives. These included helping to facilitate and deliver a Road to Mental Readiness program and authoring “A Wellness Road Map for Guelph Police Service” which continues to support the development and implementation of programs for members.

Rev. Borthwick has also served as a member of our Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) team and our Organization Health and Wellness Committee. Earlier this year he was recognized along with Constable David Muller with an Excellence in Mental Health award for developing Resilience Training which is provided to all new police members.

We thank Rev. Borthwick for his many contributions to the Guelph Police Service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors and his continued position as Minister of St. Andrew’s Church Guelph.
