At BioPed in Guelph we have an on-site lab where we manufacture a full range of orthotics and provide patients with the convenience of adjustments and specialized fitting services.
We also carry custom and non-custom knee and lower limb braces, compression stockings in various sizes, colours and compression grades as well as an outstanding collection of fashionable, orthotic-friendly footwear which can be customized if necessary for almost any foot irregularity.
During your initial assessment, a Canadian Certified Pedorthist will conduct a thorough evaluation by first obtaining a complete medical history. Gathering information on each patient's lifestyle, work and medical history is important to creating the best possible treatment.
Next is the observation of surface anatomy followed by a physical examination, range of motion testing, functional testing, walking gait analysis and an analysis of your current footwear.
After gathering information from a detailed medical history and examination, the Pedorthist will take a three dimensional cast of both feet and from this, will manufacture your orthotics in the Clinic's on-site lab. Here, many fabrication techniques are available - allowing the Pedorthist to select the process best suited to correct or accommodate the foot condition of each patient. Your Pedorthist will ensure that your custom orthotic is properly matched to the appropriate footwear for maximum correction and comfort.
Here, your custom orthotics are also fitted and adjustments are made immediately so you are not inconvenienced.
We listen to each patient's needs and ask questions about your lifestyle goals, concerns, ailments and history. Getting to know each patient and having an appreciation of background and activity goals are crucial for sound and effective treatment.
