I deal in personal injury law. I like to tell people that I help those who've been injured in an accident receive compensation for their injuries that they deserve and are entitled to. The injuries can result from many kinds of accidents or negligence including car accidents, bike, or motorcycle accidents, to slip and falls, and beyond. Injuries can be physical, psychological or cognitive. Broken bone, brain injuries, concussion syndrome, depression, amputation and wrongful death are among the injuries that I often see being brought forward in my office.
Each claim is treated seriously, and I understand how each injury impacts not only the victim but their friends and family. Some claims are eligible to move forward in the legal process and some are not A good lawyer will advise you of whether your claim for damages is one that is entitled to receive benefits through an insurance company. I will need to examine the whole story behind the accident – when you describe it to me I have only your perspective and to make informed decisions I need to know the whole story.
Some of the factors personal injury lawyers need to consider when determining the merit and value of your case are:
The nature and extent of your injuries, and whether they meet the guidelines of compensable injuries under the laws of Ontario.
Whether and how long your rehabilitation takes. Are your injuries minor or life altering and catastrophic?
Have you lost time from work, or are you unable to continue in your current career due to the impacts of the accident.
If you are hurt in an accident I always advise that you see an experienced personal injury lawyer as soon as possible. They will advise you and guide you through the process. Timelines exist for starting claims, and appealing decisions by insurance companies. A good lawyer won’t guarantee you and amount of money or a timeline to settlement of your case. They will, however, tell you whether your case is entitled to compensation or benefits, and they will guide you through the process.
